What is covered with preventive maintenance of a density meter and/or refractometer?

The following tasks are executed during preventive maintenance:

  • Thorough investigation of instrument status "as found", including performance verification with air and/or deionized water
  • Visual checks and cleaning of housing, surfaces, terminal, and covers, as well as accessories (pumps, valves) and peripheral devices
  • Replacement of worn parts such as cell- and syringe adapters, O-rings, and protective sleeve/lid, if required
  • Operational testing of instrument boards and terminal, temperature monitoring, thermo module, and fan check
  • For density measuring cells only: additional leakage test, oscillator check, and cell view adjustment
  • Performance verification "as left"
  • Detailed maintenance report and recommendations for routine operation and instrument care

Can METTLER TOLEDO also service an autosampler used with a density meter and/or refractometer?

Yes, we offer preventive maintenance for our sample changers and InMotion™ autosamplers. The service includes thorough visual inspection and cleaning, functional and operational testing, and adjustments, if required.

How can I detect if my density meter or refractometer needs maintenance or repair?

Signs that indicate your density meter or refractometer requires maintenance or repair include:

  • Inconsistent or inaccurate readings
  • Slow response times/temperature adjustments of the measuring cell
  • Physical damage
  • Unusual noises

Regular performance verification and calibration can help to identify possible issues early. If you notice any of these signs, it’s advisable to consult a professional service.
