Lab Weights - Calibration & Testing

High Quality Laboratory Weights for Balances

Lab weights refer to standardized weighing units used for calibration and metrological testing of laboratory balances. They are an important tool for maintaining accuracy and reliability as well as ensuring that measurements are precise and reproducible. Laboratory weights from METTLER TOLEDO cover all OIML and ASTM Classes and are made of corrosion-resistant stainless steel for a lifetime of stable and accurate weighing results.

What are lab weights?

Lab weights are stainless steel knob or wire weights from 1mg up to 50Kg in the OIML classes E1-M1 used for testing and calibration of balances in laboratories.

Where are lab weights used?

As the name indicates, lab weights are designed for lab balances, as compared to industrial weights, which are heavier and suitable for harsher environment to use with industrial scales.

How should lab weights be cleaned?

If a weight contains significant amounts of dirt that cannot be removed with a brush or cleaning tissue, the weight or some part of it can be washed with clean alcohol or distilled water. After weights are cleaned with solvents, they must be stabilized.

What are some of the best practices for lab weights handling?

When handling lab weights, keep in mind the following points:

  • Store weights near the balance
  • Handle weights with care
  • Do not touch weights with bare hands
  • Do not forget periodic recalibration
