Gold crucibles are chemically resistant
Gold crucibles at the hightest purity of 99.99%. Gold is chemically resistant and would be used more frequently if it were less expensive.
Gold pan and lids can be cold welded
Apart from certain types of aluminum pan, gold is the only material that can be hermetically sealed by cold welding.
Maximum temperature 750 °C
Gold crucibles can be used up to 750 °C This can be useful for DSC measurements between 500 and 700 °C.
Material No.: 27220
The crucibles can be hermetically sealed to suppress endothermic evaporation, vaporization, or sublimation when carrying out DSC measurements on volatile substances. The maximum permissible overpressure that the sealed lid can withstand is 0.25 MPa.
The gold surface becomes dirty during longer periods of storage, which makes cold welding more difficult. To clean the pan and lid, we recommend that you heat them to about 500 °C for a short time prior to use (heat cleaning).
Caution: Molten metals form alloys with gold very easily, which can result in a hole in the bottom of the crucible.
