UV/Vis Spectrophotometric Method to Ensure Quality, Safety, and Reliability

BS and BSEN are two sets of standards developed by the British Standards Institution (BSI).

BS stands for British Standards, while BSEN stands for British Standards European Norm. BS standards are specifications for products, services, and systems that are intended to ensure quality, safety, and reliability.

BS 684-2.17:1976. Iron in Fats and Fatty Oils

This standard specifies the methods of analysis of fats and fatty oils to determine the iron content by colorimetric method.

BS 1728-25:1980. Titanium in Aluminium and Aluminium Alloys

This standard specifies methods for the analysis of aluminium and aluminium alloys  for determing the titanium content by the spectrophotometric chromotropic acid method.

BS 3985:2003. Haemiglobincyanide Standard

This method designates haemiglobincyanide (cyanmethaemoglobin) preparation as the standard for spectrometric haemoglobin measurement.

BS 5766-3:1999. Phosphorus Content in Animal Feeding Stuffs

This standard specifies the method for determining the phosphorous content in animal feeding stuffs spectrometrically.

BS 6068-2.11:1984. Ammonium in Water

This standard outlines the physical, chemical, and biochemical methods for determining water quality, specifically detailing the manual spectrometric method for the determination of ammonium.

BS 6068-2.12:1990. Phenol Index of Water

This standard specifies the method for determining the phenol index in water using the 4-Aminoantipyrine (4-Aminophenazone) spectrometric method following distillation.

This standard specifies the procedure for determining the manganese level in water using the formaldoxime spectrometric method.

This standard specifies the method for determining the nitrate content in water by the sulphosalicylic acid spectrometric method.

BS 6068-2.40:1991. Borate in Water

This standard specifies the method for determining borate in water using the Azomethine H spectrometric method, providing detailed guidelines to ensure precise and reliable measurement of borate concentrations.

BS 6068-2.47:1995. Chromium (VI) in Water

This standard specifies the method for the determination of chromium (VI) in water by the diphenylcarbazide spectrometric method.

BS 6068-2.49:1995. Aluminium in Water

This standard specifies the method for the determination of aluminum in water by the pyrocatechol violet spectrometric method.

BS 6783-12:1992. Phosphorus in Nickel Alloys

This standard specifies the method for the determination of phosphorus in nickel alloys by molybdenum blue molecular absorption spectrometry.

BS 6783-14:1994. Total Boron Content of Nickel and Nickel Alloys

This standard specifies the method for determination of the total boron content of nickel, and nickel alloys by the curcumin molecular absorption spectrometry.

BS 6870-2.7:1987. Titanium Content in Aluminium Ores

This standard specifies methods for the chemical analysis of aluminium ores to determine the titanium content spectrophotometrically.

BS 6870-2.8:1987. Phosphorus Content in Aluminium Ore

This standard specifies methods for the chemical analysis of aluminium ores to determine the phosphorous content by spectrophotometric method.

This standard specifies the method for determination of citric acid content of fruit and vegetable juices by the NADH spectrometric method.

This standard specifies the method for spectrophotometric determination of niobium in steel and steel alloys.

BS EN 10200:2012. Boron in Steel

This standard specifies the method for the determination of boron content in steels (ferrous material) spectrophotometrically. 

BS EN 10212:1996. Arsenic in Steel and Iron

This standard specifies methods for the determination of arsenic content in the ferrous (iron and steel) materials spectrophotometrically.


BS EN 12138:1998. D-Malic Acid in Fruit and Vegetable Juices

This standard specifies the method for enzymatic (NAD) determination of D-Malic acid content in fruit and vegetable juices spectrometrically.

BS EN 12146:1997. Sucrose in Fruit and Vegetable Juices

This standard specifies the method for enzymatic (NADP) determination of the sucrose content in fruit and vegetable juices spectrometrically.

BS EN 12396-1:1999. Dithiocarbamate and Thiuram Disulfide in Non-fatty Foods

This standard specifies the method for the determination of dithiocarbamate and thiuram disulfide residues in non-fatty foods spectrometrically.

BS EN 12441-4:2003. Iron in Zinc and Zinc Alloys

This standard specifies methods for the chemical analysis of zinc and zinc alloys to determine the iron content spectrophotometrically.

BS EN 14945:2005. Chromium (VI) in Chrome Bearing Refractories

This standard specifies the method for spectrometric determination of chromium (VI) content in chrome bearing refractories, before and after use.

BS EN 15479:2009. Biuret in Urea

This standard specifies method for spectrophotometric determination of biuret in urea (fertilizers).

BS EN 15487:2007. Phosphorus in Ethanol

This ammonium molbdate spectrometric method specifies the methodoloy to determine the phosphorous content in ethanol which is a blending component for petrol.

BS EN 26595:1993. Arsenic in Water

This standard specifies the method for determination of the total arsenic in water by the silver diethyldithiocarbamate spectrometric method.

BS EN 26777:1993. Nitrite in Water

This standard specifies the molecular absorption spectrometric method for the determination of nitrite content in water.
