Tension load cells are typically used in a wide range of industries where precise measurements are required, and are paramount to the success and reputation of the company. These industries include pharmaceutical, manufacturing and automotive.

Precise measurements are crucial in research fields as well, especially ones that utilize laboratories for research. S-Beam tension load cells are designed for use with suspended tanks, dosing hoppers and other devices that are suspended from a support structure. METTLER TOLEDO offers a wide range of tension load cell capacities to meet the needs of a variety of weighing applications. For example, the SLS410 Tension Load Cell is the perfect economic solution toward accurate, repeatable weighing. The SLS410 in tension weighing applications convert suspended hoppers or other hanging devices into a weigh system. It can also be used to convert mechanical scales into electronic scales.

The robust and economical design is suitable for use in normal industrial environments. The SLF510 Tension Load Cell, on the other hand, is designed for use in industrial environments requiring a higher degree of corrosion protection because of its robust and economical stainless steel design. It also converts suspended hoppers or other hanging devices into a weigh system, and can be used to convert mechanical scales into electronic scales.

How does a tension load cell work?

Tension load cells measure pressure and are similar to other strain gauges. They are vital in the manufacturing industry in which they improve efficiency and provide data for stress and quality assurance testing. Tension load cells work with the help of a transducer, which is typically in cylinder form and is installed as the rolling component. Tension load cells then measure the amount of pressure that is applied to the transducer casing’s exterior. A tension load cell works by converting the tension placed upon the transducer into a signal that is then dispatched to a remote computer. That information is then monitored for progress.
