What is a single point load cell used for?

Single point load cells are used to build a scale where one load cell is sufficient. The scale can be part of any production machine where the weight information is needed in the process, e.g. filling machines can be built on single point load cells, or machines checking the completeness of the packages leaving the warehouse. Loss-in-weight feeders are another example of scales using single point load cells.

What are the benefits of integrated connectivity?

Integrated connectivity on the single point load cell saves space in the machine or in the control cabinet. There is no need for an extra box to convert the load cell's analog signal; it is done on the load cell. Integrated connectivity saves also time during installation, as it simplifies the cabling.

Are the SLP33xD load cells more accurate that analog load cells?

The SLP33xD single point load cells have the latest technology on-board; advanced algorithms monitor the changes in the environmental temperature and adjust the weight signal. Non-linearity and hysteresis effects are adjusted as well. In addition, noise filtering algorithms deliver stable weighing signals.

How is condition monitoring used to increase machine uptime?

SLP33xD single point load cells deliver continuous status information using the Smart5™ alarming system. Whenever a problem occurs or the load cell requires maintenance, the operator or control system is immediately notified and can take action. This means the machine is stopped only for the fix, and the downtime is minimal.
