Product Handling using Sidegrips and Guide Rails

Weighing unstable potato chip cans prone to toppling using effective product handling options

Unstable products present challenges for product inspection equipment, as the movement through the system can cause products to topple and result in a potential line jam and unplanned downtime. The C35 Checkweigher comes with product handling options to safeguard against such complications and make certain that proper weighing results can be obtained.

In this example the checkweigher utilizes a combination of sidegrips and guide rails in order to properly space unstable chip cans as they traverse the weighing surface. The tall, narrow shape of the cans makes them prone to toppling, so it is critical the transition to and from the checkweigher is as smooth as possible. Products which are over-or-underfilled are guided to a runoff conveyor using a finger-sorting device that redirects the cans without causing them to topple.
