Yes, you can check the accuracy of your automated density measurements by adding a control sample in your batch to compare the measured value to the target value. This can be done with bi-distilled water (target value = 0.9982 g/cm3 at 20°C), or traceable standards certified for other values (e.g. bromonaphthalene standard, target value = 1.486x g/cm3 at 15°C). The comparison is automatic, and a pass/fail indication is given depending on whether the result is within/outside the specified tolerance. Further analysis can be stopped if the test has failed.
Typically, two rinsing solutions are used: a first solvent to dissolve the measured sample and a second volatile solvent to facilitate efficient drying. For example, in petrochemicals, hexane is used for crude oil and acetone for drying. For further flexibility, a third solvent can be used, enabling measurements of samples in the same batch that require different rinsing solutions. For example, in F&B, water is used to remove sugar-based products, while alcohol can be used to remove oil/fat residues; the third solvent will complete the cycle.
Our LevelSens sensors detect if the level of rinsing solution in the bottle goes below a minimum value and will prompt the user to fill the bottle. The same LevelSens sensor can be used for the waste, to prompt the user to empty the waste bottle before continuing the analysis.
Yes, you can run samples with different viscosities in the same batch as the density meter will adapt the sampling, draining, rinsing, and drying to the different types of samples. This can be done by either creating series or using barcoded vials to run specific methods for various sample types.
