Oxidation of materials can lead to failure in their particular use or application. For example, polymers become brittle, edible oils become rancid, mineral oils undergo polymerization, and petrochemical products exhibit a change in viscosity.
Discover how oxidation induction time (OIT) by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) can help you evaluate material stability, shelf-life, and long-term performance. Join the live webinar for practical insights into the principles, benefits, and application of OIT and oxidation onset temperature (OOT) testing, helping you better understand results and make informed decisions in your laboratory or production environment.
Whether you are new to OIT or looking to strengthen your existing knowledge, this session offers valuable insights from our experienced specialists.
Join the webinar to explore the OIT technique and get the chance to ask our experts your questions!
The OIT test is a standardized isothermal measurement performed with a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) to measure the resistance of a material to oxidation. The sample is heated in an oxidative atmosphere and the time taken for the material to oxidize is measured. The test is typically used to evaluate the oxidative stability of oils, polymers, and foods, as well as to assess the effectiveness of antioxidants. These tests are frequently employed in research, process development, and quality control.
