In-line turbidity measurement has valuable benefits in dairy production: reduced product loss, product quality assurance, and greater productivity. All this can be achieved without traditional and expensive turbidity instruments.

Optical monitors are an economical method of continuously measuring turbidity. They use light from LEDs to detect in-line changes in turbidity in real time between product, water or CIP media.
 


Cut losses: At the filling line, relying on an operator and a sight glass can risk significant loss of product. Every one second delay in switching a valve can result in up to 4 liters of milk being wasted. The signal from an optical monitor can be used to control valve switching automatically – saving product and operator time.

Ensure quality: Every milk product has its own turbidity measurement. Optical monitors can be used as a quality check to detect changes in product dilution or fat content prior to packaging. They can also be used to ensure the correct product is put into the correct pack.

Increase productivity: If you're using a fixed time period during CIP cycles you may be wasting valuable production time. Turbidity measurement with an optical product monitor can show in real time when cleaning is complete.
