Titer Determination : Potassium hexacyanoferrate (III)

Titer determination is the process of determining the exact concentration (molarity) of a titrant.

Sodium hydrogen sulfite and indigo content in textile dye bath, sulfide determination in wastewaters, glucose, etc. To determine the sample content it is important to know the exact concentration of titrant.

Reaction:

2[Fe(CN)₆]^3- + 2I^- -----> 2[Fe(CN)₆]^4- + I₂

2[Fe(CN)₆]^4- + 2K⁺ + 3Zn²⁺ ---->  K₂Zn₃[Fe(CN)₆]²

2S₂O₃ + I₂ -----> (S₄O6)^2- + 2I^-
