3. Sensitivity to Moisture and Contamination
Paramagnetic analyzers can be affected when moisture, condensate, or process carryover reaches the measurement cell. Even small changes in temperature, flow, or dew point can alter the sample condition enough to cause drift, noisy signals, or unstable readings. Contamination can also lead to frequent cleaning, maintenance, or component damage.
In applications where gas streams are variable or partially wet, this sensitivity can make paramagnetic instruments more prone to errors in daily operation. Sample conditioning helps reduce the risk, but it does not eliminate exposure of the measurement cell to process gas.
TDL technology avoids this risk because the measurement is made without direct contact between the process gas and the measurement components. That makes it inherently less vulnerable to moisture and contamination and more stable in demanding applications.
