Balance Installation and Qualification
For a Smooth Start and Accurate Results
METTLER TOLEDO installation and qualification packages ensure that balances and moisture analyzers can deliver top-notch performance from day one.
Weighing instrument installation is never as easy as "plug and play". Even the smallest mistake or oversight in configuration can result in weighing errors that cause rework and waste.
Our installation and qualification services ensure new equipment is complete, expertly installed and immediately capable of delivering performance excellence to meet productivity, quality and regulatory requirements.

Correct Setup Right from the Start
Relying on METTLER TOLEDO's professional installation and qualification service means being in good hands.
Our Service Technicians ensure that your balance or moisture analyzer is running perfectly and meets your process requirements the minute it is installed. Services include:
- Customized set-up and configuration
- Initial calibration
- User training
- Audit-proof documentation
Weighing Performance and Productivity Ensured
METTLER TOLEDO offers three different installation and qualification packages for balances and moisture analyzers: EQPac, IPac and StarterPac.
Regardless of which package you choose, professional installation ensures equipment is optimized for your environmental conditions to deliver accurate results. Initial user trainings that enable operators to perform correct measurements right from the start are included.
Additionally, EQPac and IPac offer different degrees of qualification. Which one you choose depends on the industry you work in and the regulations you need to meet.

Regulatory Compliance and Traceability
To help you fulfill your compliance requirements, we provide comprehensive documentation to support instrument traceability.
Our highest level of equipment qualification, EQPac, is a must-have in highly regulated environments including pharmaceuticals and biopharma. It provides detailed documentation for all instrument lifecycle stages so you can pass audits with ease.
EQPac ensures peace of mind regarding both day-to-day performance and audit-readiness.

Choosing The Right Level of Assurance for Your Balance
If you are unsure about the level of performance assurance you require, two questions must be answered:
- Do you need qualification?
- And if yes, how detailed does the documentation need to be?
If you do not need a qualification, then a StarterPac is probably the right choice. It provides proof of professional installation, and it is most useful in self-regulated or unregulated industries.
However, if qualification is required, you must choose between an EQPac, which is designed for highly regulated industries subject to audit where all steps of the lifecycle must be documented in detail, and the IPac, which is suitable when activities must be documented sufficiently in order to meet quality standards.

FAQ
1. Why is balance installation important?
Real conditions may differ from one lab to another, and professional installation ensures that the balance or moisture analyzer is optimized for the specific location and delivers accurate results from the beginning. Only correct and professional installation can let you know that the balance is:
- delivering accurate results
- placed in the optimum location
- set up according to your requirements
- able to pass internal/external audits
2. What is the right installation and qualification package for my application?
Since operating environments, applications and regulatory requirements differ, we offer three levels of installation pac: EQPac responds to the needs of highly regulated industries (GMP/GLP, USP, Ph. Eur.), IPac includes a medium level of detail and is used with industries working with various quality standards (e.g. ISO, HCCP). StarterPac proves that professional installation has taken place and does not include qualification.
3. How can I make sure that the balance is operated correctly after installation?
Initial user trainings are part of all installation and qualification packages. They are intended to make users familiar with the instrument and to ensure a smooth start and to allow correct measurements right from the beginning.
4. Is calibration required after installation?
Initial calibration is a separate service that is normally performed after installation to prove that the instrument accuracy meets process requirements before it goes into routine operation. Regulated industries require initial calibration.
5. Why is GWP® Verification recommended to complement balance qualification?
GWP Verification is METTLER TOLEDO’s risk-based methodology that confirms that an instrument continues to meet process requirements over its lifetime. It establishes an appropriate calibration, routine testing, and maintenance schedule to help maintain accuracy. GWP Verification provides a clear risk-based strategy for defining calibration frequency, as well as for defining which individual routine tests, test weights and weight classes operators should use when performing periodic testing. It also defines recalibration intervals for test weights used.
