Degreasing Baths Use

In the metal component manufacturing industries, between the molding and blanking stages, parts often need to be degreased and cleaned. This process is carried out in special baths, which run temperature ramps and add ultrasonic cleaning steps. However, often some of the solvents used are lost in the procedure, resulting in a concentration change of the cleaning mixture that could cause a sub-optimal cleaning.

Degreasing Bath Monitoring

To avoid big deviations from the target concentration, a fast determination of the degreasing bath mixture can be done via refractive index (RI), directly in the production area. The R4 Excellence Refractometer can easily correlate the RI with a concentration result using a calibration curve, so then, the instrument can automatically inform the user how much oil or solvent must be added to the bath in order to re-establish the target concentration; resulting in an optimum degreasing capability.
