Q: What is fluorescence quenching, or how does the optical oxygen measurement principle work?

A: Fluorescence quenching is an optical principle of measuring oxygen in liquids. A chromophore (dye) is exposed to a pulse of light. The chromophore absorbs the light then emits it (fluorescence). The lifetime of the fluorescence is dependent on the oxygen concentration of the liquid.
 

Q: What is Automatic Stability Control (ASC)?

A: ASC is an algorithm that measures the stress a sensor has been exposed to in the process to improve its measurement stability. Consequently, results become more reliable. The sensor learns from stress factors such as temperature and calibration, to improve its future performance.
 

Q: What are pre-batch diagnostics?

A: ISM sensors monitor their own "health". When the sensor is connected to iSense, all relevant performance information is displayed in iMonitor. Diagnostic information such as the Dynamic Lifetime Indicator (DLI) and the active calibration timer (ACT) indicate when the next maintenance or calibration is required. This allows s you to verify if a sensor will perform reliably throughout the next batch.
