What are the different types of single-point load cells?

METTLER TOLEDO offers a wide range of load cells from 3-kilogram up to 300-ton capacity. Load cells are available in aluminum, plated steel, or electro-polished stainless steel. They are available in various legal-for-trade accuracy classes according to OIML R60 and NIST HB44, including OIML C3, C6 and C10, and NTEP 5000d III S/M, 10000d III M and 10000 III L M. Single-point load cells are available for hazardous area applications and are approved according to ATEX, FM (Factory Mutual), cFM (Canada), IECEx and NEPSI. They meet protection classes IP67, IP68, and even IP69K.  

What are multi-purpose single-point load cells?

Multi-purpose single-point load cells are accurate single-point strain gauge load cells for scale design or smaller structure conversions. For example, the SLP845 and SSH single-point load cells are made from stainless steel, hermetically sealed by laser welding, and have threaded mounting holes for easy integration. The load cell has IP68/IP69K protection class for protection against dust and water. They can be quickly mounted to the support structure and to the weighing platter or receiver.  This makes the load cells very easy to integrate into new or existing weighing systems. Because only one load cell is required per scale, a junction box is not required, thus small platform and tank scales can be created very simply.

What are aluminum single-point load cells?

Aluminum single-point load cells are ideal for retail and industrial bench scales, packaging and processing machines, and small tank and hopper scales. The passivated aluminum provides good corrosion resistance for many dry industrial applications. The electrical circuit is potted and protected against dust and humidity to an IP67 rating. Low profiles and simple interfaces make integration easy. A broad capacity range makes them usable in a wide range of applications. Because only one load cell is used per scale, a junction box is not required.
