How do I know if my pH meter is accurate?

The most reliable way to verify pH meter accuracy is to calibrate it using at least two certified, traceable buffer solutions of different pH values. Once calibrated, verify with a reference solution, one that was not used during calibration. If the reading falls within the specified tolerance of the reference value, the meter is performing within specification.

Where to buy reliable pH buffers and solutions?

Reliable pH buffers and reference solutions are essential for maintaining measurement traceability. METTLER TOLEDO offers a comprehensive range of certified pH buffers, conductivity standards, dissolved oxygen (DO) tablets, and reference electrolytes. These solutions are manufactured to meet recognized international standards and include documented traceability and storage requirements, making them well-suited for use in regulated environments.

How can I troubleshoot if I get a “wrong buffer error” on the terminal?

If the difference between calibration buffers is less than 10 mV, the pH meter assumes that the same buffer was used for calibration twice and thus reports a "wrong buffer" error. Use a second buffer with more than a 10 mV difference in pH to rectify the issue. This error can also occur due to a sensor short circuit.

If we observe varying results for the same sample when using different sensors, how can we fix it?

Check the sensor application and design. The results of two different sensors cannot be directly compared, as they are intended for different purposes/applications. Ensure that the meter settings and calibration procedures are consistent. If the offset values and slope are within range, there's no need to troubleshoot.
