Certain attributes of turbulent mixing have been identified to impact key crystallization characteristics, including:
- Metastable Zone Width (MSZW)
- Primary and Secondary Nucleation Events
- Growth and Agglomeration Rates

This presentation focuses on the use of Process Analytical Technology (PAT) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) in understanding common industrial crystallization challenges and in turn facilitate the production of methods for the scale-up and scale-down of this process. A "scale-up toolbox" is used to optimize bench scale crystallizations to produce efficient, repeatable crystallizations. Three case studies are included:
- Case Study 1: Impact of Turbulent Mixing on Crystallization
- Case Study 2: Overcoming Poor Anti-Solvent Addition Points
- Case Study 3: Developing an Optimal Anti-Solvent Addition Profile
