Highlight from the 2025 Corporate Responsibility Report
When we initiated our GreenMT Program in 2010, we focused on managing our operations sustainably, with minimal environmental impact. Over the years, we have improved energy efficiency by focusing on facilities, manufacturing processes, and our global sales and service fleet.
Since 2020, we have achieved two important targets each year: 100 percent sourcing of renewable electricity and carbon neutrality in our operations.
In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, we continue our efforts to reduce the waste generated in our operations, increase recycling, and achieve and maintain our zero waste-to-landfill target (<5%).

The METTLER TOLEDO Climate Strategy
Climate change highlights the need to accelerate actions and look beyond our operations to understand and limit the impact on climate across our entire value chain, in line with our science-based targets (see below for details).
These targets underline our long-term commitment to take meaningful action to limit climate change. Furthermore, it supports credible collaboration with our suppliers and customers toward decarbonization (see also Responsible Supply Chain).
Scope 1 and 2 emissions stem from our operations. Scope 3 encompasses emissions upstream and downstream from our operations and accounts for the bulk of our emissions.

In 2025, we continued to focus on reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions while expanding activities to lower Scope 3 emissions, in line with our climate strategy and road map.

We recognize that transparency in CO2e emissions is crucial for advancing decarbonization in supply chains.
Our CO2e Footprint Calculator enables our customers to easily estimate their CO2e footprint from doing business with METTLER TOLEDO.
In 2021, we committed to near- and long-term Company-wide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions, in line with the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These targets are consistent with the latest climate science and the Paris Agreement goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above preindustrial levels and were approved by SBTi in 2022.
Near-Term Targets
Mettler-Toledo International Inc. commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 70% by 2030 from a 2018 base year. Mettler-Toledo International Inc. commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions from purchased goods and services, fuel and energy related activities, upstream transportation, business travel, employee commuting, and the use of sold products 30% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.
Long-Term / Net Zero Targets
Mettler-Toledo International Inc. commits to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2050 from a 2018 base year. Mettler-Toledo International Inc. commits to reduce absolute Scope 3 GHG emissions 90% by 2050 from a 2019 base year.
Reducing Waste
In 2020, we undertook a review of the total waste disposed from our operations. As a result, we set ambitious waste management and reduction targets for our operating Units. Specifically, by 2025, we aimed to reduce the waste intensity of our operations by 20 percent (compared with 2018) and achieve zero waste to landfill (less than 5 percent of waste to landfill).
We are proud to announce that we have achieved both reduction targets in 2025. As of 2025, our waste intensity has decreased by 28 percent and waste sent to landfill was reduced by 81 percent compared to the 2018 base year, accounting for 4 percent of total waste. Our operating Units and offices will continue to reduce waste intensity, increase recycling, and maintain our zero waste-to-landfill commitment in the years to come.
