Performance Verification of Coupled KF Titration System

Automated Coulometric KF Analysis: 15.66% Oven Water Std for Performance verification

The application note describes the automated performance verification of coupled analytical system. Coulometric Karl Fischer titration of the 15.66% solid water standard is performed using the Compact KF titrator connected to Compact Karl Fischer Autosampler.

Background

Performance Verification is the recommended workflow to confirm faultless routine operation of the titrator and secure the result reliability.15.66% solid water standard is used to verify the performance of the coupled analytical system.

Sodium tartrate dihydrate has a stoichiometric water content of 15.66% and is used for titer determination in volumetric titration.Gas phase extraction of the water molecules present in the di-sodium tartrate di-hydrate crystal lattice is carried out in the system. In this technique, the gas flows into the sample vial (heated by the oven at a specific set temperature) and collect the water extracted from the sample. The water is brought in the titration cell by a transfer tube where it is titrated by a Karl Fischer titration (Volumetric or Coulometric)

The automated system improves Lab Safety & Efficiency and also the Result Quality. The system also saves on time and cost.
