Water Content Analysis Using Ethanolic Solvents and One-Component Reagents by Volumetric Karl Fischer Titration

Performance Assessment of Solvents by EVA Titrator

This page provides information on using one-component reagents in combination with ethanol-based solvents for water content determination to enhance the sustainability of volumetric KF titration compared to using methanol-based solvents

How can you improve the sustainability of KF titration?

Conventional KF reagents used methanol and pyridine, which are toxic in nature and can be replaced by safer reagents like imidazole and ethanol, reducing the toxicity of the reaction and thus improving sustainability.

Why replace methanol with ethanol?

Methanol is highly toxic compared to ethanol, making it difficult to handle, transport, and dispose of. Thus, to make the workplace sustainable and ensure safety, there is a need to use safer and greener solvents like ethanol instead.
