Standardization of one component volumetric KF titrant, 5 mg/mL

A method using solid sodium tartrate dihydrate 15.66% and liquid water standard 10 mg/mL

One-component reagents contain all reactive compounds for the Karl Fischer reaction in one reagent, the titrant. Iodine, base, and sulfur dioxide are dissolved in alcohol to form the titrant. The advantage of this reagent is that any suitable solent can be used according to the sample matrix under study.

general Karl Fischer Reaction:

CH3OH + SO2 + 3RN + I2 + H2O → (RNH)2.SO4CH3 + 2(RNH)I

This application is used to standardize one component volumetric Karl Fischer titrant 5 mg/mL with solid sodium tartrate dihydrate 15.66% or liquid water standard 10 mg/mL.
