Lipstick quality control procedures are well-established (e.g. AOCS Cc 3-25), as the product must meet official food and drug regulations. Because lipstick is the only cosmetic ingested, strict regulations are imposed on ingredients and the manufacturing process. Examples of such controls are based on the determination of the Slip Melting Point (SMP).
