OPC UA is a future oriented machine to machine protocol for industrial automation developed by the non-profit OPC Foundation. The comunication technology facilitates secure, reliable and vendor-neutral transport of raw data and pre-processed information from machine to machine and from the manufacturing level into the production planning or Enterprise Ressource Planning (ERP) system.
METTLER TOLEDO offers solutions for static weighing and dynamic checkweighing for old and new scales, simplifying and thus speeding up the implementation processes.
Companion Specifications are typically designed by joint working groups consisting of vendors and users of these particular technologies. The mode of cooperation in the joint working groups is determined by the OPC Foundation which also enables compliance with the overall standard. METTLER TOLEDO is an active member of the joint work group and is committed to continually and pro-actively developing specifications for the benefit of all industries.
METTLER TOLEDO has Companion Specifications ready for immediate use for the device classes including "Static Scale" and "Checkweigher".
Static Weighing
The "Static Scale" specification provides all commonly used data points and methods for static weighing with bench, floor and tank scales in industrial environments. It is possible to connect new or installed scales via modern OPC UA communication to Enterprise Resource Planning and Manufacturing Execution Systems, as well as to cloud services.
Dynamic Checkweighing
The Checkweigher specification includes data points and methods for dynamic weighing with individual item weights, classification, statistics, conveyor control and machine status information for customers OEE calculations. It is available in multi-technology combination systems where checkweighers are combined with METTLER TOLEDO metal detectors, x-ray inspection and vision inspection systems.
