CytoDirect Stain-Free Automated Cell Counter

CytoDirect Stain-Free Automated Cell Counter

Reliable Cell Concentration and Cell Viability Assay in Just OneClick, Wherever Your Sample Is

CytoDirect has an extra-large measurement area, which, together with its unique technology that allows for the elimination of cell staining, ensures measurement reliability. A high degree of automation decreases human error, improves process standardization, and minimizes inter-operator variability. The portable, robust design makes CytoDirect perfect to work anywhere in the lab. It can also be easily stowed away when not in use and shared between labs!

FAQs

How does CytoDirect identify viable vs. dead cells?

CytoDirect uses digital holographic microscopy (DHM) paired with machine learning to differentiate between viable and dead cells without staining or labeling. The cell’s refractive index, measured by the holographic microscope, reflects the morphological and structural changes the cell undergoes during cell death. Hence, the non-viable cells can be distinguished from the live ones.

Can I spray CytoDirect with disinfectant for cleaning?

Yes, the surface of the device can be sprayed with disinfectants. Check the video. Do not immerse CytoDirect into liquids.
Recommended disinfectants:

  • Isopropanol (≤ 70 %)
  • Sodium hypochlorite (≤ 0.625 %)
  • Quaternary ammonium compounds in isopropyl alcohol (≤ 0.5 %)
  • Phenolic disinfectant (0.05 %)

Some of the recommended cleaning agents are hazardous materials. Wear protective gear as required by the safety data sheets of the cleaning agents you use and the safety rules of your workplace.

How much time does CytoDirect take to analyze my sample?

CytoDirect takes less than 15 seconds to perform the analysis.

What are good practices to obtain a perfect measurement with CytoDirect?

  • Avoiding aggregates in your sample is always a good practice. However, CytoDirect has been trained to recognize single cells within an aggregate as long as they are visible (i.e., not hidden behind other cells).
  • Make sure cell suspension density is within operating range (not too diluted or concentrated).
  • Avoid liquids on the slide outside the designated areas. Smears on the slide and sensor affect the results.
  • Load the CytoDirect slide correctly and ensure no bubbles or impurities are in the loaded sample.
  • Insert the CytoDirect slide correctly.
  • Do not extract the CytoDirect slide during the analysis.
