METTLER TOLEDO has developed a new guide for food retailers in which the company shares knowledge, tips and tricks surrounding the topic of weighing. The “Grocer's Guide to Metrology” helps retailers to understand the terminology relevant for their daily business operations and is now available to download.
Modern scales are characterised by a high degree of precision, as well as being user-friendly and combining in-depth expertise from various areas. For retailers, having a full grasp of the sophisticated technology behind the equipment is irrelevant. However, given that scales are the decisive components in stores, understanding the fundamentals of weighing is an advantage. Influencing factors can, for instance, be identified and controlled with the aim of sustainably improving the scales’ performance.
METTLER TOLEDO has therefore developed “A Grocer's Guide to Metrology”. It gives food retailers the opportunity to obtain a better understanding of their weighing equipment and its mode of operation. The guide explains fundamental concepts such as linearity, hysteresis and corner load. It enables retailers to draw conclusions about their own weighing applications, to improve them and, consequently, to increase profitability in the long term.
