Influence of the Crucible on the Results of Thermogravimetric Analysis

This article discusses the influence of the crucible on the results of thermogravimetric analysis. The geometry of the crucible should be taken into account when using reactive gases and can be reduced by using shallow crucibles (30ml crucibles). This type of crucible also minimizes the broadening of the measurement curve, thus improve the temperature and the time resolution of the TGA curve. These considerations and effects are especially important when kinetic evaluations are made on the basis of such measurement curves.
