Swelling Measurements of Thin Polymer Films with TMA

Pellets and tablets are often coated with aqueous dispersions of insoluble polymers to provide a means for the controlled release of active ingredients. The mechanism of drug release can be described through the swelling behavior of the polymer films. This article describes a TMA method that can be used to measure and characterize the swelling behavior of polymer films of various compositions in different solutions.
