PP, DSC Measurements in Air

Sample

Hostalen PPN 1034/12 as pellet

Conditions

Measuring Cell: DSC20

Pan: Aluminum standard 40 µl, pierced lid

Sample preparation: Disk cut from center part of pellet

DSC measurement: Heating from 30 to 300ºC at 10 K/min

Atmosphere: Air, 50 cm3 /min

Conclusions

If an automatic gas controller is not available, the melting peak can also be measured under air. The onset of the oxidation reaction is a measure of stability (the higher the temperature, the better the stability). Application Example "PE, Oxidation Stability" deals with the isothermal oxidation induction time, OIT.
