Global Pipette Service Solutions
Our proprietary Global Pipette Service Solution – GPSS – securely records measurement data directly from the balance to eliminate any potential for recording inaccurate results. Adhering to a single, global standard, it also links directly to PipetteX for electronic calibration certificate delivery. 24 CFR Part 11 compliant.
SmartCheck™ is the only benchtop pipette volume verification device capable of determining whether a pipette is dispensing accurately in less than 60 seconds. The test is performed at your bench.
Only 3% of failures in pipettes require adjustments. Most failures in pipettes are caused by functional failures of components. By doing routine preventive maintenance, you can see the following benefits:
Maximize device lifespan and return on investment by avoiding downtime and repairs
Accurate and reliable results ensured by adherence to technical specifications
OEM parts are always used, and pipettes are PM and repaired to the manufacturer's specifications
Reduce failures with consistent maintenance that will address 97% of performance failures
Fast Calibration for Multichannel Pipettes
Our Multichannel Pipette Calibration Balance has a readability of 10 μg and supports multichannel pipettes with up to 12 channels and nominal volumes from 0.5 – 1000 μL. The results of a single dispense of up to 12 channels are calculated in under one minute. The outstanding weighing performance ensures accurate and fast calibration results, even at such small volumes.

FAQs
How frequently should my pipettes be calibrated?
The frequency of calibration depends on many different factors. At a minimum, we recommend calibrating a pipette at least once a year. One should consider how often the pipettes are used, the required precision needed for your experiments or application, and the amount of risk you might take if those results are inaccurate. If you have a high level of need for accuracy, then it is recommended to calibrate your pipette either every three months or six months to avoid potential failures.
Will my pipette be serviced onsite or in a depot/calibration lab?
Pipettes can be serviced either onsite or in our calibration lab. This decision should be discussed with our service engineers who can provide the expertise if onsite service can meet your needs. For customers who have very tight tolerances, those can be met better in a calibration lab. If it is necessary for it to be done onsite, then an environmentally controlled lab is required.
What is the difference between calibration and adjustment?
Calibration is the process of testing your pipette on a balance or some other authorized method by ISO 8655:2022. The calibration process is comparing the results of your pipette to a known standard so that it can be traced.
If a pipette or any other device does not meet the requirements of a calibration then an adjustment can be made. For example, if a pipette fails you can adjust it so that it passes. Most pipettes cannot be adjusted during as found calibration as this is a way to maintain traceability of a device. Pipettes can only be adjusted during the as-left or as-returned portion of a service.
What is the difference between calibration and preventive maintenance?
Calibration is the process of taking measurements on a balance and comparing it to a known standard to determine the accuracy of the pipette. Preventive maintenance should be done at least once a year to replace worn parts and to clean and maintain all parts of the liquid end. Pipettes have known wear and tear, and if preventive maintenance is not performed, they will be more prone to failure. Performing regular preventive maintenance will prolong the life of your pipette. All preventive maintenance includes visual inspections, cleaning, and functional testing. METTLER TOLEDO's pipette service includes preventive maintenance and calibration at the same event and guarantees that pipettes return in top performance every time.
