Characterization of Soil Samples

Organic soil substance (OBS) is one of the most important characteristics of soil. A thermogravimetric method for the assessment of the quality of OBS in soil has now been developed as part of a federal research project at the Technical University in Berlin. It is based on a modified approach to the analysis of soils and makes use of a new strategy in the evaluation of thermogravimetric results. This article describes this method in detail using three examples of soil samples.
