Polyamide 6 Blends

Sample

Triax RDS 13415 pellets (a blend of ABS, polyacrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene, with polyamide 6)

Flexovac-Multi (laminated film of PE and PA6)

Conditions

Measuring cell: DSC20

Pan: Aluminum standard 40 μl, pierced lid

Sample preparation: Disk cut from pellet and punched out of film

Sample mass: ABS/PA6 blend 9.4 mg, Flexovac 9.0 mg

DSC measurement: Heating from 30 to 280 C at 20 K/min (Triax), and from 50 to 300 C at 10 K/min (Flexovac)

Atmosphere: Nitrogen, 50 cm3/min

Evaluation

The heat of fusion of PA6 is approx. 45 J/g (typical for PA6). Both samples give values of 20 J/g, Their PA6 content is therefore approx. 44% assuming that their crystallinity is the same. The calculation of the content is performed automatically if the reference value for the heat of fusion is entered beforehand. In a similar way, the PE content of Flexovac is determined by 59%.
