UV/Vis Spectrophotometric Method for Ensuring the Precision, Reproducibility, and Comparability of Measurements

The Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS) for UV/Vis spectroscopy provide guidance for the use of spectrophotometers and accessories for qualitative and quantitative measurements.

The JIS standards cover topics such as the measurement of absorbance and transmittance, wavelength accuracy, stray light, and photometric properties of samples.

The JIS standards also provide guidelines for the selection and preparation of reference materials, sample handling and storage, and data analysis and reporting.

JIS G 1212-2:2023. Silicon in Iron and Steel

This standard specifies a reduced ammonium molybdosilicate colorimetric method for determining silicon in iron and steel. (mass fraction between 0.01 % and 1 %.)

JIS G 1213:2001. Manganese in Iron and Steel

This standard specifies methods for the determination of manganese in iron and steel by periodate spectrometric method.


JIS G 1216-3. Nickel in Iron and Steel

This standard specifies the dimethylglyoxime spectrophotometric method for the determination of nickel in iron and steel. (mass fraction from 0.01 % to 5.0 %.)


JIS G 1219:2025. Copper in Iron and Steel

This standard specifies methods for the determination of copper in iron and steel: 2, 2'-Biquinolyl spectrophotometric method.

JIS G 1227:1999. Boron in Iron and Steel

This standard specifies methods for the determination of boron in iron and steel: Curcumin spectrophotometric method.

JIS G 1228-2. Nitrogen in Iron and Steel

This standard specifies a spectrophotometric method for determining nitrogen in steel and iron. (mass fraction of 0.0005 % or over up to and including 0.050 %.)

This standard specifies a method for determining boron in ferromanganese by the curcumin spectrophotometric method.

JIS G 1321-5:2009. Iron in Manganese Metal

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the method for the determination of iron in manganese metal by the 1,10- phenanthroline absorptiometry.

This standard specifies methods for determining tin in copper and copper alloys using the spectrometric method.


JIS H 1054:2002. Iron in Copper and Copper Alloys

This standard specifies methods for the determination of iron in copper and copper alloys by spectrometric method.

JIS H 1055:2003. Manganese in Copper and Copper Alloys

This standard specifies methods for the determination of manganese in copper and copper alloys by permanganate absorbance method.
