Real-Time Monitoring of Downstream Biologics Operations

Higher biologics productivity has increased the need for real-time monitoring of processes. This presentation focuses on Tangential Flow Filtration (TFF), which is a common unit operation in both downstream biologics drug substance production and drug product formulation. TFF relies upon a membrane that impermeable to protein, but "readily" allows small molecules to permeate through. High protein concentrations may lead to non-ideal effects. This presentation discusses how to monitor protein and excipients in real time.
