By imaging in-process, particle shape and particle dimension can be visualized, and process upsets instantaneously detected, such as the formation of an immiscible droplet phase (“oiling out”), particle agglomeration, or particle breakage.

PVM© technology can be used to detect the presence of unexpected polymorphs, even at concentrations below the detection limits of Raman or offline microscopy. By imaging thousands of particles per second, trace polymorph detection is possible where morphology changes exists.


Furthermore, fragile particles, particle interactions (single particles and aggregates), and particle shape/morphology transitions are all easily characterized. Monitoring in real time with no sampling or sample preparation, saves time and avoids altering the particles or droplets under investigation.
