A weighing scale with a printer has many benefits, including efficiency, and traceability. When you add a printer to a scale for applications that require documentation, you are removing the possibility for human error. Whenever an operator must write down weighment information, there is a possibility they will write it wrong – leading to bad batches or incorrect inventory control down the line. For ensured accuracy in tracking, a printer is a good solution.
METTLER TOLEDO offers a variety of printer solutions for easy weighing and tracing depending on your application and requirements.
Ticket or strip printers that use impact dot matrix technology are good printers for applications require long-term storage of hard copy data. Slip and form printing uses impact dot matrix technology to create multiple carbon copies of the data for quick and easy printout receipts. Finally, thermal transfer and direct thermal label printers are great for complex higher resolution printouts that include logos, icons, graphics, and barcodes.
Impact dot matrix technology is one of the first technologies used in mechanical printing. The technology uses small pins that punch an inked ribbon to create a dot on the paper. This printing technology has been around for over 50 years because of its reliability and usefulness. The APR320 takes advantage of these attributes for customers that are required by regulations to keep hardcopies of weighment data for 5+ years.
Label printers, also known as labeling printers, utilize either direct thermal or thermal transfer technology to print labels for various business purposes. METTLER TOLEDO offers a variety of label printer solutions for easy weighing and traceability, depending on your application and requirements. Browse our site to find a scale with printer that fits your needs.
Direct thermal technology uses a thermal print head to heat thermal reactive paper creating black marks. Thermal transfer that uses the same type of thermal print head but instead of heating the paper directly, it heats an inked ribbon. The ink on the ribbon is a wax based and when it is heated, will transfer to the paper pressed against it. The APR430 and APR530 are thermal transfer printers that are reconfigurable as direct thermal based on the application. The APR331 is a direct thermal printer and requires direct thermal paper.
Many solutions can also benefit from adding a peripheral to the process. As solutions become more automated, barcode and RFID scanning codes are built into the process. Having a connected scanning solution at the scale can further enhance the process. A scanner ensures that the exact information is captured every time, further eliminating room for human error. Adding remote displays and Bluetooth dongles like the ADI Scoreboards and ACM360s to a weighing solution will add efficiency to applications that require an operator to perform duties up to 10 meters from the weighing station.
