Pyrolysis of PVC Powder by TGA-MS - METTLER TOLEDO

Pyrolysis of PVC Powder by TGA-MS

Introduction

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) used in numerous building and construction materials such as pipes, films and insulation materials produces harmful chlorine derivatives when exposed to high temperatures. The aim of this experiment was to monitor the amount of dechlorination and identify the nature of the decomposition products evolved during the pyrolysis of PVC from 100 to 600 °C.

Sample:                 Technical poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) powder

Measuring cell:     TGA-MS
