Influence of Experimental Conditions on MS Sensitivity

Introduction

Numerous experimental factors significantly influence the quality of mass spectra. Some of the most important parameters include sample mass, gas flow, the accelerating voltage of the secondary electron multiplier (SEM) and the position of the capillary tip in the TGA furnace. The effects of these parameters on the mass spectra of calcium oxalate monohydrate, calcium carbonate and malonic acid were investigated in separate experiments.

Conditions

Sample: Calcium oxalate monohydrate (CaC2O4.H2O)

TGA measurement: Heating from 50 to 800 °C at 15 K /min, blank curve corrected
