TPE-E, Ester-Based Thermoplastic Elastomer

Sample

Hytrel HTR 8105 BK as pellets

Conditions

Measuring cell: DSC20

Pan: Aluminum standard 40 µl, pierced lid

Sample preparation: Disk cut from pellet, 7.3 mg

DSC measurement: Heating from 30 to 250 °C at 20 K/min

Atmosphere: Nitrogen, 50 cm3/min

Evaluation

The spline baseline type was used. It fits the cp temperature function before and after the peaks very well.

Conclusions

TPE gives characteristic DSC curves that can be used for identification purposes. Low temperature DSC (-100 °C) would have to be used to characterize the elastomeric behavior of the soft segments.
