Automated sensor maintenance is driving innovation and efficiency at Tereos, a leading French agricultural cooperative renowned for its expertise in processing sugar beets, sugarcane, cereals, and alfalfa.
With a commitment to sustainability and high quality, Tereos processes approximately 300,000 tons of corn and 77,000 tons of wheat annually, producing nearly 520,000 tons of glucose syrups, dry starches, maltodextrins, and polyols that serve diverse food, animal feed, and industrial markets.
One critical aspect of their production process is sustaining accurate and reliable pH measurements, which are essential for product quality and process efficiency.
Recently, a process engineer started working on pH measurements at the facility. He realized that the in-line measurement on some applications was experiencing drift, and that the cause was fouling of the probes.
This fouling was impossible to remove with water rinsing alone, leading to:

Additionally, use of the EasyClean 500 system has decreased the total volume of rinse water used, aligning with Tereos’ commitment to sustainability.
Satisfied with the outcomes, Tereos plans to extend the EasyClean 500 solution to a total of six pH measurement systems across the plant.
Tereos are very happy with the results. Cleaning is very effective, and the probe is always calibrated, which greatly improved measurement quality, plus they’ve drastically reduced their maintenance operations.
