Ramseier tested the new InMotion sample changer for use with a density meter (SG), refractometer (Brix) and titrator (acidity) where the carbonated beverages were automatically degassed following the CO2 measurement (using a Steinfurth device).
"With the fully-automatic combined analysis we saved a lot of time, at least 10 minutes per sample and the results turned out to be very repeatable" Mr Kunz said.
Additional pH measurement can be done in the beaker while the sample is being measured in the density meter or refractometer. Sedimentation of the sample is prevented by homogenizing with a stirrer. Carbonated beverages can be degassed with a combination of air flow and stirrer before starting the measurement.
