Amperometric Gas Sensors | O2 Sensor
Oxygen control for your gas applications
O2 sensors are amperometric gas sensors designed for continuous measurement and monitoring of gas-phase oxygen for a range of applications. These user-friendly O2 sensors can be directly installed into the process without hassle and are easy to replace, calibrate and maintain. O2 sensors with Intelligent Sensor Management (ISM) digital technology feature advanced diagnostics and Plug and Measure for fast sensor start-up and maintenance without process interruption.
Trace Measurement: Maximize Process Control
O2 sensors by METTLER TOLEDO provide measurement down to concentrations of 5 ppm to ensure high accuracy and low detection limits for better process control.
Gas-phase oxygen sensors with ISM technology offer enhanced diagnostics to provide real-time assessment of sensor lifetime and help you prepare for replacement when necessary.
Quick Response Time Without Sampling
Amperometric gas sensors allow you take oxygen readings directly from the process without long sampling lines or long response times.
Unaffected by Environmental Challenges
Polarographic gas oxygen sensors are insensitive to dust, moisture and many interfering gases. This allows these O2 sensors to be inserted in-line where they will deliver reliable, accurate values.
For a Wide Range of Critical Applications
METTLER TOLEDO gas-phase oxygen sensors are a reliable solution in challenging applications such as N2 blanketing, inertization, and off-gas monitoring in Ex or non-Ex situations.
Fast Sensor Replacement for More Uptime
Polarographic gas sensors with ISM Plug and Measure technology can be polarized and calibrated away from the process under lab conditions, and then inserted directly into the process.
Unique Models for CO2 Recovery in Breweries
METTLER TOLEDO offers a special amperometric gas-phase O2 sensor for trace oxygen measurements to ensure efficient capture of CO2 during fermentation in brewing.

What is an O2 sensor?
O2 sensors from METTLER TOLEDO are amperometric, or polarographic, gas oxygen sensors. These sensors for measuring gaseous oxygen use an oxygen permeable membrane and an electrochemical anode/cathode assembly. These gas phase oxygen sensors are good for gas monitoring in applications such as nitrogen blanketing and off-gas monitoring.
Amperometric gas sensors by METTLER TOLEDO provide fast measurements and are quick and easy to replace, calibrate and maintain.
How often do I need to service an amperometric gas sensor?
The inner body of an amperometric gas sensor requires occasional replacement. More frequently, the electrolyte in the sensor's membrane body will need replenished and the membrane body itself, replaced. Replacement/refilling times vary based on individual application conditions and knowing when to conduct these tasks is often down to the experience of operators.
METTLER TOLEDO amperometric gas sensors with Intelligent Sensor Management (ISM) technology offer diagnostic tools that show, in days remaining, when inner body and membrane body replacement or electrolyte refilling should be performed. These tools, such as the Dynamic Lifetime Indicator, help to ensure that you avoid any unplanned downtime in your monitoring and control processes.
How often do I need to calibrate an amperometric gas sensor?
Calibration intervals are difficult to calculate, but ISM technology will give you an estimate based on the conditions of the process the O2 sensor is operating in. The Adaptive Calibration Timer (ACT) provides an accurate calculation for when you should plan to calibrate your amperometric gas sensor, meaning less unplanned downtime or process interruptions.
What are METTLER TOLEDO's models of gas-phase oxygen sensor?
METTLER TOLEDO offers four primary models of gas-phase, amperometric oxygen sensor.
The InPro 6800G and InPro 6850iG are designed for chemical and pharmaceutical processes where in situ measurement of gas-phase oxygen is required. These models are particularly suited to act as an O2 sensor in harsh industrial processes.
What is the difference between a DO sensor and an O2 sensor?
Both a DO sensor (dissolved oxygen) and an O2 sensor measure oxygen (O2). Generally speaking, the term DO sensor is used when the oxygen is dissolved in a process media, such as pure water. The term O2 sensor is primarily used for the measurement of gas-phase oxygen. METTLER TOLEDO offers both DO sensors and O2 sensors. METTLER TOLEDO's O2 sensors are primarily amperometric oxygen sensors, but METTLER TOLEDO also produces a tunable diode laser oxygen analyzer.
