Mettler-Toledo India Private Limited has become a member of the Suppliers Ethical Data Exchange (SEDEX), and uses the platform for improving transparency and knowledge on CSR related issues in our supply chain.
Sedex is a not for profit membership organization dedicated to driving ethical improvements in global supply chains. It is a secure online platform for sharing and viewing information on labor standards, health and safety, the environment and business ethics.
It has the largest collaborative platform for sharing ethical supply chain data and a truly global organization with members in over 150 countries. It is not a standard setting body, code of conduct or certification.
How does it work?
SEDEX enables member companies to more efficiently manage the ethical and responsible practices of their global supply chains through a software platform and a standard self-assessment questionnaire, which unifies the auditing process. The system provides risk assessments of suppliers based on the self-assessment questionnaire, which all suppliers must fill out when joining. This generates increased transparency through the provision of a secure, robust, and user-friendly information and data exchange.

The tool used by Sedex is named SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit). It is designed to benefit retailers and consumer brands and their suppliers, reducing duplication of effort in ethical trade auditing.
